Wherever you look, AI is spreading its wings, now AI has entered health care also. For the convenience of people, Amazon has now included Healthcare AI Assistant for customers in its website and app. The company's objective behind including this AI health expert in the app and site is to make the care of more than 30 diseases easier.
The company said the artificial intelligence assistant can interpret results, connect patients to providers and answer questions about medications and symptoms. This model, announced in January, will initially be exclusive only to members of One Medical, the company's clinical service provider. One thing to note here is that customers do not need to be a member of Prime, the company's premium prescription service or One Medical, to use the free assistant. If understood in simple language, everyone will be able to use this new AI health tool.
Andrew Diamond, Chief Medical Officer of Amazon One Medical, said Health AI is designed to handle the logistical and informational tasks that create barriers in healthcare, so that patients and providers can spend more time on what matters most.
For non-emergency conditions like acne and head lice to diabetes and sleep apnea, this AI agent can help manage symptoms, conduct virtual assessments, and recommend treatments. The customer must give the AI assistant permission to access medical data, including lab results, records and clinical notes.
A company spokesperson said that Assistant does not create treatment plans and when patients need treatment or their condition is difficult, they are connected to a provider. But the thing to note here is that patients who are not One Medical members or are not enjoying the introductory offer through Prime, are charged a charge of $29.
