For nine years, Dominic Chinea has restored cherished family treasures and meaningful possessions on BBC's The Repair Shop.

This month, however, admirers of the restoration specialist can witness him in an entirely fresh capacity as he presents his own programme beyond his BBC commitments.

The new five-part series, titled Dom Chinea's Cornish Workshop, chronicles the expert's adventure as he begins a fresh chapter in Cornwall alongside his wife Maria and their dog, Wendy.

This week, the opening episode premiered on U and U Yesterday, featuring Dom repairing a leaking sea pool near Mousehole whilst also purchasing a dilapidated old Land Rover.

Posting a photograph on social media, Dom appeared alongside one of the programme's contributors, Sam Lovegrove, as he eagerly sought viewers' opinions on his latest project, reports Cornwall Live.

He captioned the post: "Dom's Cornish Workshop is out!! Did you watch the first episode on U? I'd love to know what you thought of it?"

"It was a fantastic summer working with the legend that is @samlovegrove If you missed it, you can stream it on U now!!"

Comments flooded in shortly afterwards, with numerous viewers expressing their reactions to the inaugural episode.

One person said: "Brilliant show. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the first episode and downloaded the stream on U app so I could watch the next episode straight away."

Someone else added: "Binge-watched the whole series today, (didn't intend to) really enjoyed it and can't wait for more."

Whilst another person wrote: "Loved it! Keep them coming!" One fan wrote: "We watched the first one last night and then downloaded the next ones as it's compulsive watching! Absolutely love it, stunning area to film in, you are so lucky, take it easy."

Another viewer added: "Great series Dom hopefully lots of future series to follow."

Prior to the programme's debut, Dom discussed adapting to life in Cornwall, revealing one aspect he found especially difficult.

He said: "Cornish lanes are so narrow and so tight - especially round here, I'm always forced to drive into the bush, scraping the side of my van on brambles and bushes.

"It brings me to tears almost every time. The lane is constantly getting potholes - I had to use a rock crusher to break down rubble to fill the holes - it was actually quite satisfying using that rare antique machinery."

Dom Chinea's Cornish Workshop is available to watch on U and U Yesterday and Channel 4.
