'I'm a top GB News host - here's why Reform bias fury is completely wrong'

GB News presenter Alex Armstrong has argued that the news channel is far more than just "Reform TV." The channel employs several Reform UK politicians as presenters, including its leader Nigel Farage, Lee Anderson and Matthew Goodwin. While Armstrong acknowledged that GB News leans to the right, he argued that, unlike other channels, it features guests with a broad range of viewpoints, allowing discussions to be debated with greater balance and impartiality.

He credited Farage with bringing issues like immigration into mainstream media, saying his presence on GB News has helped expand the political debate. Speaking on the Daily Expresso podcast, Armstrong immediately shut down claims that the channel is simply "Nigel Farage news". He said: "I don't think so. I understand Nigel Farage is a presenter. The difficulty is, Nigel Farage was presenting on GB News before he was ever Reform.

"Reform didn't even exist when he was presenting on GB News. He had no intention of going back there and he's been an anti-establishment figure pushing the overton window and allowing us to talk about those things.

"There was a time when Nigel Farage was just talking about immigration and that was bad. You were deemed a racist just for discussing it.

"Nigel Farage has been the most influential, up until recently, unelected politician in the land. Him being at GB News as a presenter allowed those conversations to seep into the mainstream media, so he deserves a lot of credit for that.

"We wouldn't be having these discussions today, I believe, if it wasn't for Nigel Farage," he added.

Armstrong said he wants viewers who believe GB News is solely a platform for Reform to watch his programme and decide for themselves whether he shows any bias toward the party.

He continued: "That's difficult for people to swallow. I totally get that. However, there's not many news channels I see with such a broad, diverse range of opinions.

"I encourage people who call it Reform TV who have never watched my show to come and watch my show on the weekend. See how biased you think I am to Reform UK when you hear me speak.

"I might agree with a lot of what they say, but so does a lot of the British public. Mass deportations of illegal migrants are a policy held by the Conservative Party, Reform, Restore, even Labour are coming round to the idea.

"We can have shared ideals and agree with them. It doesn't mean that all of us want one party to win."

While the host insisted that not every presenter on GB News supports Reform, he believes the channel never tries to hide its right-leaning stance, but instead embraces it.

"Not every presenter is a Reform supporter. I'm not going to say who they are but they're not all card-carrying Reform Party members. I think it's a bit of a nonsense thing," he argued.

"Yes, GB News is more right-leaning. I don't think it shies away from that, I think it embraces it. I don't think anyone is looking at GB News thinking you're a centrist or left-wing news channel.

"We know we're not and I think people embrace that about it. It doesn't pretend to be something it isn't, unlike when you watch other channels and you're told 'this is news' when actually, there's a second truth to the layer of the way you present your news.

"You don't get that at GB News. You know what you're buying. I think we do a really good job at not being Reform TV."

He went on to credit Anderson, the Reform UK MP for Ashfield and presenter of GB News' Real World Show, for uniting diverse audiences.

Armstrong added: "I get it and I understand why people feel that way but at the end of the day, having anti-establishment voices, which I think a lot of these people are, they're very unique, they bring people together.

"Lee Anderson will get viewers who are upper middle class and the most working class viewers in the country together.

"That's an incredible audience to bring in to people and he'll talk about things in a way that are very easy for us all to digest, not some lofty, political bubble speak from Westminster. It's nice and refreshing."
