The COVID-19 lockdown reshaped the landscape of Indian cinema. Many actors, producers, and filmmakers had to bear the brunt of poor footfalls, low box office collection, incessant flops, among other things. Four years after the lockdown, a report by Bollywood Hungama has ranked the top 10 Bollywood actors in order of the highest earnings from their post-COVID releases.

Shah Rukh Khan made his grand comeback with Pathaan. He followed it up with another powerful release, Jawan. He released three films after COVID that made him Rs 2,669.22 crore worldwide, and a per-film average of ₹889.74 crore. No other actor came close to King Khan who kept the momentum up even after post-pandemic slowdown.

Even though the Dhurandhar actor had multiple setbacks after COVID, Ranveer Singh has been ranked at the second spot with Rs 1986.7 crore. His average per firm earning is more than Rs 397 crore.

Ajay Devgn had the second highest number of releases with 13 films, which brought his total to more than 1867 crore. But his per-film average of Rs 143.6 crore shows a drop in the rankings.

Akshay Kumar proved that having the highest number of releases after pandemic does not automatically guarantee high box office collection. Akshay Kumar’s 16 films earned a total of Rs 116.19 crore per film on average, the lowest among his peers.

With four films grossing Rs 1,619.86 crore and a per-film average of Rs 404.97 crore, Ranbir Kapoor had landed on fifth position. Despite mixed reviews and low ratings, Brahmastra crossed Rs 400 crore while Animal dominated 2023 and earned more than Rs 900 crore worldwide. On a per-film basis, Ranbir surpasses Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn, making him a strong contender for the second spot.

Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 became one of his major hits. His four films post pandemic totalled Rs 1,297.05 crore and a per-film average of Rs 324.26 crore. Vicky Kaushal and Kartik Aaryan came next with Rs 289.28 crore and Rs 165.29 crore per film respectively.

Salman Khan ranked last with his five films totalling Rs 899.56 crore and a per-film average of Rs 179.91 crore; a shocking figure for a star of his stature.
