A suspended Labour MP received a £2,400 donation from her husband's business just weeks before he was arrested by police on suspicion of spying for the Chinese. Joani Reid, who was elected as the Labour MP for East Kilbride and Strathaven, claimed she had no part in her husband's business despite cashing the donation on February 12.
Her husband, David Taylor, is listed as the sole director in the communications and PR firm Earthcott Ltd, owning two-thirds of the shares. Speaking after her husband was arrested, she issued a statement saying she had "never seen anything to make me suspect my husband has broken any law".
She went on to say that she was "not part of my husband's business activities". Ms Reid has been suspended from her party while an investigation takes place internally.
Her register of interests shows she took a donation, described as "media training" worth £2,400 from her husband's firm.
In a statement issued to the media, she said: "The shock of recent days has been difficult for me and my family.
"I want to reiterate something very important: I am not under investigation by the police, and no accusations have been made against me."
The MP added that she had done nothing wrong and loved her country.
A Labour Party spokesman told the Daily Mail: "Joani Reid has agreed to fully co-operate with the Labour Party's investigation into these matters."

Her husband was one of three men arrested last week by counter-terrorism police last Wednesday. He has been released on bail until May, according to Scotland Yard.
At the time of her husband's arrest, Ms Reid said: "I have never been to China. I have never spoken on China or China related matters in the Commons. I have never asked a question on China-related matters.
"As far as I am aware I have never met any Chinese businesses whilst I have been an MP, any Chinese diplomats or government employees, nor raised any concern with ministers or anyone else on behalf of, even coincidentally, Chinese interests. I am a social democrat who believes in freedom of expression, free trade unions and free elections.
"I am not any sort of admirer or apologist for the Chinese Communist party's dictatorship."
