LPG ATM in Gurugram: Due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East, a gas shortage is being witnessed across the country. While some people are facing difficulties in booking, others are experiencing delays in delivery even after booking a cylinder. Amidst this situation, a new facility—an 'LPG ATM'—has been introduced for the general public in Gurugram. A key highlight of this facility is that it allows for the easy procurement of a gas cylinder in just 2 to 3 minutes. According to a report by *The Times of India*, this ATM has been installed at Central Park Flower Valley in Sector-33, Sohna, Gurugram, and has been launched as a pilot project by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). Let's take a look at how this machine works and what the refilling process entails.
How Cylinders Are Used in the LPG ATM
According to *The Times of India* report, this machine dispenses composite LPG cylinders, which are lightweight, cleaner, and easier to handle. While standard iron cylinders weigh approximately 31 kilograms (including the gas), these fiber-based composite cylinders weigh only about 15 kilograms, even with 14 kilograms of gas inside. Furthermore, the body of these cylinders is transparent, allowing consumers to easily monitor the gas level remaining inside.
How Does the Machine Work?
This machine can store up to 10 gas cylinders at a time. When the number of cylinders remaining in the machine drops to just two, it automatically sends an alert to the nearest gas agency to ensure a timely supply of new cylinders. Its most significant feature is its 24-hour availability, allowing consumers to collect a gas cylinder at any time without having to wait for a delivery.
How Can People Use the LPG ATM?
According to *TOI*, the entire process of obtaining an LPG refill through this smart machine is digital and automated. Consumers who hold a BharatGas composite cylinder connection can easily collect a gas cylinder. To do so, they simply need to enter their registered mobile number on the machine interface. Next, verify your mobile number using the OTP received on your phone. Scan the barcode or QR code affixed to the empty cylinder, and then complete the payment using UPI or a debit card. The machine then stores the empty cylinder and, in exchange, dispenses a filled one. The entire process typically takes just 2 to 3 minutes, making gas refilling extremely easy and convenient.
