Vikram Doraiswami, currently India’s High Commissioner to the UK, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to China. A 1992 IFS officer, he has served in Hong Kong, Beijing, New York, South Africa, Uzbekistan, Korea, Bangladesh, and the UK. Fluent in Chinese, French, and Korean, Doraiswami brings decades of diplomatic experience to the China posting.
New Delhi: Vikram Doraiswami, currently serving as the High Commissioner of India to the United Kingdom, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to China, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Thursday.
In an official statement, the MEA said, "Vikram K. Doraiswami (IFS:1992), presently High Commissioner of India to the United Kingdom, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the People's Republic of China.".
He is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
Doraiswami joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1992. Before that, he did journalism for a year.
