Parents are being told to "take the book away" from small children immediately after an urgent product recall was issued for a popular Peppa Pig story. The festive title 'Peppa Pig: Peppa's Night Before Christmas' has been pulled from sale over fears it could pose a choking risk.

Publisher Penguin Random House UK has issued the recall as a precautionary measure after a manufacturing fault was discovered. The problem affects the glitter varnish finish on the front cover. In some copies, the glitter layer has been reported as lifting and peeling off - meaning small flakes could be swallowed by young children. The affected books were sold in TK Maxx stores between November 2024 and February 2026 and applies to books with ISBN number 9780241448625. Shoppers are now being urged to check their copies as soon as possible.

The books relate to copies printed in 2020 and 2021 from a specific printer in the UK and only limited print runs are affected.

Print numbers 002 and 003 are included in the recall.

Customers can find the unique print number inside the book on the copyright page.

Product receipt and price ticket codes include 027080, 655055 and 693769.

Parents who have one of these copies should remove it from children straight away.

The items were priced at £4.99 or €7.99 in stores with no receipt needed to return the item.

Customers can receive a full refund or a replacement copy.

Penguin Random House said the book should then be returned to any TK Maxx or Homesense store.
