Rylan Clark is rumoured to be one of the fresh faces of Strictly Come Dancing. The presenter is thought to be "a ratings winner" for the BBC show, which is on the hunt for two new hosts to take over from Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

The pair departed at the conclusion of the previous series, after 21-year and 15-year tenures respectively, sparking speculation about their successors.

Now, it's suggested that Rylan is set to step into one of their roles, having had a prosperous career in presenting since his first gig on This Morning in 2013. He initially provided gossip from The X Factor on the ITV show, before taking on a relief presenter role and subsequently becoming more regular.

An insider revealed: "He has so many loyal fans. If he gets the job they will most certainly tune in to Strictly. He will be a ratings winner and the BBC know it."

Rylan could join forces with The One Show host Angela Scanlon, who we reported is also due to audition for one of the Strictly openings. Insiders reckon the duo would have great chemistry and provide Strictly with an exciting makeover, reports the Mirror.

"Rylan has a long-standing association with the show, and Angela has been a contestant. The main thing is they'd be a totally new pairing - no baggage, no former shows, uniquely Strictly.

"On top of that, they want to be sure that an all-female presenting line-up isn't replaced by an old-fashioned male-female duo where the man assumes a dominant role," one insider informed the Daily Mail.

Another source informed the outlet: "For Rylan it is his dream job. He loved It Takes Two and the viewers loved him. It would be a no-brainer."

Rylan, who was raised in Stepney, east London, has previously presented Eurovision coverage for the BBC. The media personality is understood to be "very keen" to be partnered with Angela, who competed on Strictly in 2023. She became the ninth contestant to be eliminated after dancing with Carlos Gu.

It is understood Rylan still faces screen tests in April so producers can evaluate his chemistry with any potential co-stars, including Irish broadcaster Angela. Rylan presented It Takes Two between 2019 and 2023, and he has hosted his own Rylan On Saturday programme on Radio 2.

However, other names being considered are One Show host Alex Jones, Zoe Ball and Bradley Walsh, presenter of The Chase. Speculation has already connected the current professional dancer Johannes Radebe to the presenting role.

Strictly Come Dancing is expected to return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer this Autumn
