A man in China was caught on video assaulting a hotel employee after she stopped his mother from taking food away from a breakfast buffet at a five-star hotel in Jiangsu Province.
A three-minute clip posted on Weibo shows an 80-year-old woman pulling out a bag and a container to pack buffet food, according to Dimsum Daily.

A female staff member then approached and reminded her that takeaway was not allowed, in line with notices posted at the restaurant entrance.
The woman’s son, who was nearby, reacted angrily and shouted: “This is the first time I’ve encountered a place that doesn’t allow packing. What’s wrong with taking some back to eat slowly? You have no service concept.”
He then stared at the employee, threatened to sue and shoved her.
Three other staff members tried to intervene but the man continued shouting, saying they had paid for the meal and demanding that the employee apologize to his mother.
At the end of the video, the mother and son left the food they had planned to take away on the table and walked out of the restaurant. The man continued complaining as they left, saying: “I paid for it.”
After the video went viral on Chinese social media, many users criticized the mother and son’s behavior. Some said the “dine-in only” rule is standard at buffets worldwide and expressed sympathy for the staff member, who they said was only doing her job.
