New Delhi: Just before the start of IPL 2026, a big concern has emerged for Rajasthan Royals. The team’s star all-rounder Sam Curran may be out of the entire season due to injury. This news is being considered a big blow to the team’s preparations, because Karan was considered a key player of the team this season.

According to reports, Karan is suffering from a groin injury and that is why there is doubt over his playing in IPL 2026. He last played in the T20 World Cup semi-final against India on March 5, where England had to face defeat, since then he has been away from the field.

Before this season, Rajasthan made a big trade by including Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran from Chennai Super Kings in exchange of Sanju Samson, hence Curran’s exit can directly affect the balance of the team.

Sam Curran’s IPL career has also been full of ups and downs. He made his debut with Punjab Kings in 2019 and then played for Chennai in 2020 and 2021. In 2023, he again joined Punjab for Rs 18.5 crore and was among the most expensive players of the league. However, his performance for Chennai in 2025 was not very special where he scored 114 runs in five matches and took only one wicket.

Now with his possible exit, Rajasthan will have to look for new options. The team has Donovan Ferreira as an all-rounder who can also bowl off-spin along with aggressive batting. Apart from this, experienced players like Ravindra Jadeja will try to give balance to the team.

At present, the franchise has not made any official announcement regarding the replacement of Curan, but the team management is considering different options. In a big tournament like IPL, the absence of a key player always affects the team’s strategy and something similar seems to be happening with Rajasthan.
