Lucknow: The political chessboard has started to be laid for the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. In this series, Samajwadi Party (SP) National President Akhilesh Yadav made a big announcement for women during a program organized in Lucknow on Sunday. He promised that if Samajwadi Party government is formed in the state, women will be given a pension of Rs 40 thousand.

He made this announcement during the ‘Malti Devi-Murti Devi Women Honor Ceremony’, where he also honored women who have done excellent work in various fields. Akhilesh said that SP has always been in favor of respect and empowerment of women.

Emphasis on ‘half population’ in PDA

Elaborating on his PDA (Backward, Dalit, Minority) formula, Akhilesh Yadav said that ‘A’ in it also means ‘half of the population’ i.e. women. He said, “We will bring ‘Stree Samman-Samriddhi Yojana’ to give equal respect to every girl child, girl, woman, woman in socio-economic terms and make them stand on their own feet and prosper.”

The SP chief also expressed his views on social media and wrote, “If the crop is to be changed, the seeds will have to be changed. Only when the basic mental seeds towards women change will their socio-economic condition change.” He said that Netaji Mulayam Singh Yadav had started the Kanya Vidya Dhan Yojana, and if given a chance, SP will come up with an even better scheme.

Yogi government cornered on law and order and development

Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Yogi Adityanath government regarding the law and order situation in the state. Referring to the Gorakhpur massacre, he said that the accused was released from the police station under someone’s pressure, this is a murder within the law.

Apart from this, he also raised questions on the green corridor being built in Lucknow. Describing it as a ‘ruined corridor’, he said, “The Defense Minister of the country tries for Lucknow but the Chief Minister of the country has not made a green corridor but a ruined corridor. There is no space even for pedestrians on it and its design is against the standards. It is being built for Rs. 7 thousand crores, it could have been made 8 lanes in less money.”

From cabinet expansion to Bengal elections

Taking a dig at the Yogi government’s cabinet expansion in UP, Akhilesh said that real development and expansion will happen in 2027 when the SP government will come. At the same time, on Bengal elections, he said that the public is going to make Mamata Banerjee the Chief Minister and the power of PDA is not letting BJP sleep. He also accused BJP of sending money at the booth level. The SP chief also alleged that BJP is paying money to make films to defame its opponents and NCRB data shows that women are most unsafe in BJP ruled states.
