Chiraiya Review: Divya Dutta's 'Chiraiya' became a toxic TV serial by showing the scary reality, know how the series is?

'Is there a marriage license?'…

Legally, marriage is a relationship that binds two people together. In our country, marriage is viewed a little differently. Here marriage is not just a relationship, here marriage is not between two people but between two families. Of two customs, of two ideas. In such a situation, being married in India is considered different for a woman and a man. Even today, in many places, it is believed that if the boy is getting out of hand, returning home late at night or wasting his life in alcohol and cigarettes, then he should be married and if there is responsibility then he will be fine. But for a girl, marriage determines the measure of her maturity.

Irrespective of the age, every girl is made to understand that whatever she wants to do, she should go home and do it. After marriage, in-laws' house is the girl's real home. The responsibility of his safety is given to a person who does not even know about his own life. These differences in the society sometimes give rise to such crimes, in which a woman is crushed, crushed and scratched every day, and that too many times by her own husband.

What is the story of 'Chiraiya'?

One series is dominating Hotstar these days. The name of the series is 'Chiraiya'. The smaller the name, the bigger and scarier is the basis of the story of the series. This is the story of a sister-in-law Pooja and her brother-in-law Kamlesh. Two daughters-in-law who are from completely different backgrounds. While for Kamlesh the world of clothes is from the last page of the newspaper, whereas Pooja knows every news of the world. The story takes a turn when Pooja's first night of marriage turns into the most terrifying night of her life and suddenly both their worlds are shaken. This story is based on a sensitive topic like marital rape i.e. rape after marriage.

The strongest aspect of this series is Divya Dutta. She is an excellent actress. Her character Kamlesh is a woman who has no complaints with her life. She thinks that her family, which includes her husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law and brother-in-law, is her world and these people can never be wrong. It takes time for him to understand new things. She is unable to understand homosexuality and when she sees Pooja raising her voice for these rights, she becomes angry and even decides to break the relationship with her. But then slowly he understands that change is not wrong. She is sad that she could not give a boy to the family and hence she considers her brother-in-law Arun as her son.

pain, suffocation and anger

Here, actress Prasanna who plays the character of Pooja also needs to be praised. She has also done a good job as a victim of marital rape. In the cast, Sanjay Mishra as a typical father-in-law and Siddharth Shaw in the role of Arun have also played their roles well. At many places, the story, through Kamlesh and Pooja, tries to show the pain, suffocation and anger that is in the mind of every woman going through this pain. However, there are weaknesses in the story at many points.

to see or not to see

The story raises a topic which till now has not been considered a crime in the law of the country, hence it is certain that you Kamlesh cannot send your brother-in-law to jail. But apart from this, whatever she does and the amount of buildup given in the story, makes the story long. In every scene you are fed the promise that something big will happen, but nothing happens. The beginning of the series is quite good, but in the middle the series takes the form of a Hindi TV serial rather than marital rape, where conspiracies begin, yet everyone lives together in the same house.

Overall, the series raises issues very well at many places, but in such a series merely raising issues is not enough. This kind of story could have been shown in a more responsible manner without singing. Divya Dutta's work is fantastic, but this series could have been made as a film and more depth could have been brought to the story and characters. The series can be watched once, but don't expect any revolution.
