What is UPTET?
The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) is a crucial examination for aspiring teachers in the state. It is conducted in two tiers: the Primary Level (for Classes 1 to 5) and the Upper Primary Level (for Classes 6 to 8). Candidates must pass the specific exam corresponding to the level they wish to teach.
Application Process
The application window for UPTET 2026 will open on March 27, 2026, and candidates can submit their applications online until April 26, 2026. Additionally, there will be a correction period until May 1, 2026, for applicants to rectify any issues or make changes related to fee payments.
Examination Dates
The examination is set to take place on July 2, 3, and 4, 2026. With ample time for preparation, candidates should start studying promptly due to the increasing competition.
Primary Level Exam Pattern
The Primary Level test will feature 150 questions, totaling 150 marks. It will include 30 questions from each of the following areas: Child Development and Pedagogy, Hindi Language, Second Language (English/Urdu/Sanskrit), Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. All questions will be multiple-choice.
Upper Primary Level Exam Pattern
Similarly, the Upper Primary Level will also consist of 150 questions. This section will include 30 questions from Child Development, Hindi, and a Second Language, along with 60 questions from either Mathematics & Science or Social Studies, based on the candidate's selected subject.
Exam Format
The UPTET 2026 will last for 150 minutes (2.5 hours). All questions will be of the Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format, with each question worth 1 mark. Notably, there will be no negative marking. The question paper will be available in both Hindi and English, except for language subjects.
