Navratri Day 6 Food: The sixth day of Navratri is dedicated to Mother Katyayani, the goddess of power. This form of the goddess with golden color and four arms is considered to be the destroyer of enemies. According to religious beliefs, Mother Katyayani is very fond of things made from jaggery and honey. On this day, devotees can offer jaggery pudding to him and get the desired blessings.

On the sixth day of Chaitra Navratri, devotees wear red or yellow colored clothes and worship Goddess Katyayani. Being the daughter of Maharishi Katyayan, she was named Katyayani. This form of the Goddess is not only a symbol of courage but is also considered to be the one who gets the desired groom for unmarried girls. The Gopis of Braj worshiped him to attain Lord Krishna.

Why is jaggery offered?

According to astrology, Mother Katyayani controls the planet Jupiter (Guru). necessary materials

  • Semolina (Rava) – 1 cup
  • Jaggery (finely chopped) – 1 cup
  • Pure desi ghee – half cup
  • Water- 3 cups
  • Green cardamom powder- half teaspoon
  • Chopped dry fruits – cashews, almonds and raisins

Method of preparation

  • First of all, put 3 cups of water and jaggery in a vessel and heat it. When the jaggery dissolves completely, add cardamom powder to it and turn off the gas. Filter this mixture to remove impurities.
  • Heat ghee in a pan. Now add semolina to it and fry on medium flame until it turns golden brown and smells good.
  • While roasting semolina, add chopped dry fruits so that they also get lightly roasted in ghee.
  • Now slow down the flame and slowly pour the jaggery water into the semolina. Keep stirring it continuously so that lumps do not form.
  • Cook the halwa until the semolina absorbs all the water and the ghee starts separating from the sides. Add one more spoon of ghee on top, which will give a wonderful shine to the halwa.

After the puja, offer jaggery halwa to Mata Rani and then distribute it among the family as Prasad. Experts believe that this offering made with a true heart brings health and fame to the seeker.
