Lord Ganesha is believed to be the God of wisdom and prosperity. As Vighnaharta or as the remover of obstacles, Hindu devotees all over the world pray to Bhagwan before beginning any new endeavour. In fact, Lord Ekadanta’s life is filled with powerful life lessons that should be learnt by every child. By ensuring that our children understand these lessons with devotion, we can help them achieve great prosperity and success, along with intellectual upliftment in their lives.
1. Be Committed to Your Duty like Ganesha

An instance from Lord Ganesha’s life depicts Bhagwan’s unbreakable commitment to his duty. When Parvati Devi was about to take a bath, She asked Lord Vighnaharta to stand guard. She told the Lord to make sure that no one enters her chamber till she gives permission.
After a while Lord Shiva came to meet Devi. However, being a God of extreme commitment to his duty, Lord Ganesha didn’t allow even his own father to go inside. Even though this act brought the rage of Lord Shiva on Bhagwan Ganesha, it teaches us to remain committed to our duties irrespective of the consequences. As Lord Krishna said in Bhagavad Gita: "You have a right to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions.”
2. Be Focused & Work Sincerely as Lord Ganesha
Lord Vighnaharta gave his word to Vyasa and completed writing the epic that contains almost one lakh verses in one sitting. Some stories point out that when the writing tool that the Lord was using got broken due to nonstop dictation, Bhagwan broke off one of his own tusks in order to continue writing. This story teaches us the importance of being focused to the task that we are being assigned. Furthermore, it also shows the power of sincerity and dedication. These are three important values that every child should develop in his or her life to attain great heights in life.
3. Respect & Love Elders Like Lord Ganesha

To test the endurance of his children, Lord Shiva once asked Kartikeya and Ganesha to circle around the universe. Moments after hearing the words of his father, Lord Kartikeya set out for the journey. But, Lord Ganesha, being the Lord of wisdom, had an intuitive feeling that his own parents are his universe. Bhagwan thought: “When my parents, my universe, are sitting right in front of me, why should I go out there in the world?” Therefore, Lord Ekadanta circled around his parents and fulfilled the task assigned to him.
This story symbolises the respect and love that we should always provide to our parents and elders. Their blessings will always come to our rescue during tough life situations.
4. Avoid Greed & Arrogance like Lord Ganesha
As we all know, Lord Kubera is the Hindu God of wealth. However, the Lord became arrogant at some point due to the immense amounts of wealth that he has accumulated. Realising this, Bhagwan Ganesha went for a dinner at Lord Kubera’s palace and ate not just the food, but also the furniture and all the wealth stored inside the palace. This incident helped Kubera realise his mistakes and he became humble and kind. This story shows the destructive power of qualities like greed, arrogance and pride. Even when we become wealthy or highly successful, we should maintain kindness, simplicity and love within our hearts.
