Dhurandhar 2 actor Ranveer Singh will file an affidavit offering an “unconditional apology” for his Kantara mimicry controversy at the IFFI 2025 closing ceremony. The move comes amid backlash over the incident, as reported by NDTV.

Dhurandhar 2 actor Ranveer Singh is set to offer an unconditional apology over his Kantara mimicry controversy at the closing ceremony of the IFFI (International Film Festival of India) 2025. As per NDTV, the actor will be filing an affidavit extending an “unconditional apology” for the incident.

Ranveer Singh is set to submit an affidavit offering his “unconditional apology” to the court on April 10, 2026. According to reports, his lawyer also stated that the actor will personally offer his apology by visiting the Chamundi Temple in Mysuru. The case has been adjourned, with the next hearing scheduled for April 10.

This decision came after Prashant Methal, the complainant’s lawyer, criticized Ranveer Singh for offering only a formal apology in the Karnataka High Court over the Kantara controversy. He argued in court that Ranveer had only apologized on social media and had never addressed the matter verbally, making the gesture appear more like a formality than a sincere apology. In response, Ranveer's lawyer answered by saying that the actor is genuinely hurt and will soon offer a written apology.

After the Kantara mimicry row, Ranveer took to his Instagram story in December 2025 to apologise for hurting sentiments. He wrote, "My intention was to highlight Rishabh's (Shetty) incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene in the way he did, for which he has my utmost admiration." Clarifying his stance, Ranveer added, "I have always deeply respected every cultural tradition and belief in our country. If I've hurt anyone's sentiments, I sincerely apologise."
