Indian women's cricket team's star all-rounder Deepti Sharma and young batsman Pratika Rawal participated in the Satta Sammelan 2026 of the country's largest news network, TV9. These are the same two players who helped Team India win the ODI World Cup for the first time last year. Bowling coach Avishkar Salvi, who was part of the support staff in that team, also became a part of this special event. Through this event, the Indian women's team was also honored for its historic success. During this, these stars narrated the story of their career and reaching this position along with the World Cup.
On 2 November 2025, the Indian women's team won the ODI World Cup title and thus lifted an ICC trophy for the first time. Deepti Sharma was given the Player of the Tournament award for her excellent performance in the World Cup. Opener Pratika Rawal, who was out of the last 2-3 matches including the final due to injury, was the second highest run scorer for India. In the power conference, both of them also told the story of the struggle behind this success.
Deepti told what was going on in her mind on the day of the final. The Indian all-rounder said, "When we were playing the final, that night I was thinking that a better moment than this cannot come. The day before, I had told my brother at home that this year we will win the World Cup. Our simple thought was that the World Cup is being held in India and we have to do well."
Along with this, Deepti also told how her life changed after the World Cup victory and the people who commented on her started garlanding her. Deepti said, "My life changed after winning the World Cup. Now I don't get time to stay at home. I get a lot of shows and advertisements. I get a lot of support from the fans. When I returned home, most of the people who welcomed me were the same people who used to taunt me earlier, they came and garlanded me."
When Pratika Raval was asked how she decided to leave basketball and choose cricket and how difficult it was, the Indian opener gave a funny answer. Pratika said, "I was into sports from the very beginning. I played cricket first but after that I chose basketball in the fourth class. I was playing both the sports simultaneously. When I held the cricket bat, I felt that I was something different. I felt different."
He further said, "Once the tournaments of both basketball and cricket happened simultaneously and I was not able to manage. I decided that I have to play cricket only. At the age of 17-18, I started playing cricket completely professionally and I thought that I will get to play for India and finally that is what happened."
