Suraj Venjaramoodu’s second Tamil film 'Youth' has completed its first week at the box office with moderate numbers. The film has collected Rs 21.61 crore in India net so far and its total India gross stands at Rs 24.75 crore as reported by the Sacnilk website.


Despite a decent opening phase, the film has slowed down by the end of its first week.


Weekend performance

'Youth' witnessed a noticeable boost during its opening weekend. On Day 4 (Sunday), the film collected Rs 5.25 crore with 57% occupancy.

Weekday drop and reduced shows

The film saw a sharp decline once weekdays began. On Day 5 (Monday), it earned Rs 2.40 crore. Day 6 (Tuesday) collections further dropped to Rs 1.96 crore.


By Day 7 the situation worsened as the film was reduced to just a few shows and the occupancy dropped to around 5%.

Directed by Ken Karunas, 'Youth' marks his directorial debut and the film features a coming-of-age story set between 2014 and 2016.


It follows Praveen, a teenager entering 12th standard. He prioritizes love over academics. The plot is mostly relatable to both gen z audiences and family audiences as well.

Given how easy it is for this territory to collapse into unwatchable cliche, Youth stays on the right side of that line for most of its runtime. It could have used twenty fewer minutes, though, and nothing of value would have been lost."
