CNAP i.e. Caller Name Presentation Service shows the name of the caller in the incoming call to the phone. While purchasing a SIM, the name entered by the caller in the Customer Acquisition Form is displayed on the user’s screen. With the help of this service, the name of any unknown caller appears on the user’s screen. This can protect users from scam and fraud calls. Earlier, telecom operators had opposed the launch of CNAP service and said that this service may affect the privacy of users. However, this service is being introduced later as per TRAI’s recommendation.
