CBSE Class 12th board exams (CBSE Board Exam 2026) are currently going on. It is going to end on 10th April and Biology paper is going to be held on 27th March. It is a very important subject for the students of science stream. Its scores are considered necessary for taking admission in NEET UG and other medical and life sciences courses. Therefore, students should take special care of some things while writing answers.

12th Biology Pattern and Marking Scheme

The total duration of Biology i.e. code number 044 is 3 hours. Maximum marks are 70. 30 marks depends on internal assessment or practical exam. A total of 33 questions are asked, all of which are mandatory. The question paper is divided into 5 sections. A total of 16 questions of one mark each are asked in the section. Five questions of two marks each are asked in Section B and 7 questions of three marks each are asked in Section C. In Section-D, two case based questions of four marks will be asked and in Section-E, three questions of five marks will be asked. However, internal choice facility is available in some questions.

Keep these things in mind while writing the answer

  • First of all understand the marking scheme and write answers according to marks. For 5 marks questions, write answers in detail. Be sure to include diagrams along with examples.
  • Answer: Always use NCERT based vocabulary and language. So that maximum marks can be obtained.
  • Diagram is important in biology. That’s why make labeled and neat diagrams. Use a pencil.
  • Write the answer point wise instead of long paragraphs. For a two mark question, two main points are sufficient and for a three mark question, three main points are sufficient. Apart from this, do not forget to write introduction and conclusion.
  • While writing the answer you can underline the keywords. This will make it easier for the examiner to do copy checking and will increase the chances of getting maximum marks.
  • Read case based questions carefully. Do not make the mistake of writing the answer in a hurry. Start writing the answer only after understanding this.
  • Take special care of presentation. Avoid overwriting. Keep the answer sheet clean. Take special care of the question number.
  • Time management is very important to perform well in the examination. That’s why allocate time for each section. Write easy questions first. Finally, check the copy for 10 to 15 minutes. Make sure to correct the mistakes.
