Delhi School Reels Ban: The Delhi government has imposed a strict ban on creating reels and short videos within schools during academic hours to ensure that discipline and the educational environment remain unaffected.
In today's times, a mobile camera is in almost every hand, and creating reels has become akin to a daily habit. However, when this hobby begins to interfere with schoolwork, the government is compelled to take strict measures. The Delhi government has now prohibited the creation of reels and short videos within school premises. It has been explicitly stated that schools are meant for learning, not for filming.
The Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi, has issued a circular regarding this matter. It directs all schools to ensure that students, teachers, and staff members do not create any form of reels or short videos within the school campus, particularly during academic hours. The government asserts that such activities adversely impact academics, discipline, and the dignity of the school.
Why Was This Circular Issued?
The Education Department received reports indicating that in some schools, students—and occasionally even teachers—were creating short videos for entertainment purposes. These videos were subsequently uploaded to social media platforms. This not only disrupted the academic atmosphere but also distracted other students. In light of these circumstances, the Education Department decided to strictly prohibit such activities within schools.
What Does the Circular State?
The circular issues clear directives to school principals, instructing them not to tolerate—under any circumstances—activities during academic hours that serve to distract students. During class time, undivided attention must be focused solely on books and classroom learning. The circular further emphasizes the necessity of maintaining discipline within the school premises. If students or staff members are found creating reels during academic hours, the school administration is required to take immediate disciplinary action.
When Can Permission to Create Videos Be Granted?
However, the Education Department has not imposed a blanket ban on video creation. If it becomes necessary to create a video for a specific educational program, cultural event, or awareness campaign, prior permission must be obtained. Such videos may be created only under the supervision of teachers. Furthermore, it must be ensured that this does not disrupt academic activities and that the safety and privacy of students are maintained.
What is Prohibited within School Premises?
It has been explicitly stated that no reels or videos shall be created within the school campus that are unrelated to academics or school-related activities. In other words, creating videos solely for entertainment purposes or for social media is now strictly prohibited.
Information to be Disseminated to All
Schools have also been directed to ensure that this rule is communicated to all students, teachers, and staff members. Everyone must be informed that compliance with these directives is mandatory.
