Just one day before the IPL 2026 began, Vaibhav Suryavanshi turned 15. The teen sensation who is setting the cricketing world on fire completed another year and got closer to adulthood. But this is no ordinary birthday. There is a certain significance when it comes to turning 15 as far as international cricket is concerned.

In fact, there is a chance we could see Vaibhav share the dressing room with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. They are all opponents in IPL 2026. However, all three of them may end up playing for India together. The two legends are in the twilight of their careers and this youngster could begin his very soon.

So how or why is this possible? Because as per ICC rules, that were amended in 2020, no player below the age of 15 can represent the nation. Vaibhav till March 26, 2026 was 14. Now he is 15 and the legal barrier holding him back has been removed. Now of course it remains to be seen when and if the BCCI picks him.

Less than two months back, Vaibhav slammed 175 to help India win the U-19 World Cup. In IPL 2025, he became the tournament’s youngest centurion ever. He was also the youngest to make his IPL debut. Should he be picked for India early, we could see him in the same dressing room as ‘Hitman’ and ‘King’.

Who knows? It’s even possible that all three of them will be playing in the ODI World Cup in 2027. Of course, it’s easier said than done. Vaibhav has a long way to go but the youngster is on the right track. He is, after all, just a kid but at the moment, he’s doing what he does best, playing cricket and playing it very well.

Right now, Vaibhav will be seen in action for RR in IPL 2026 as they look to end an 18-year title drought. RR were the first-ever champions in 2008 and then made it to the final only once in 2022 but lost to GT. In 2008, they had beaten CSK. CSK and MI have the joint record of most titles while RCB are the defending champions. LSG, PBKS and DC are still looking for their 1st title.
