Ukraine has ruined Russia's plan to earn billions of rupees during the Iran war. Ukraine has carried out major drone attacks on Russia's important oil bases, which has had a direct impact on Russia's earnings. Ukraine carried out its biggest attack this year on Russia's Ust-Luga oil port. In this attack, oil tanks and loading machines were burnt to ashes. The fire was so big that its smoke was visible as far as Finland. Ukraine's drones flew from a distance of about 620 miles and on the way passed the air defense systems of Bryansk, Smolensk, Pskov and St. Petersburg and hit the target directly.
This attack was not only military but also economic. Russia's economy is largely dependent on oil and gas. More than 60% of its exports and about one-third of government earnings come from this. In such a situation, attack on these targets directly affects Russia's treasury.
How was Russia benefiting?
According to Telegraph report, iran After the war started, Russia was getting a big advantage. Oil prices had increased and Russia was earning about $760 million every day. In March its total earnings had reached around $24 billion. Before this, Russia's income had fallen by 47% and the budget deficit had reached 91% of the target by 2026.
But Ukraine's attacks started damaging this earning. According to reports, after the recent attacks, about 40% of Russia's oil export capacity has been affected, which is considered to be the biggest loss in its history. Major ports such as Ust-Luga and Primorsk, which handle about 1.7 million barrels of oil a day, had to be closed. Apart from this, the refineries of Kirishi, Yaroslavl, Moscow and Ryazan have also been affected, due to which the daily supply of about 4 lakh barrels of oil is in danger.
Russian tanker also targeted
Ukraine also targeted a Russian oil tanker near Istanbul, which was filled with about 1 million barrels of oil. Ukraine is now targeting the entire oil network, refineries, pipelines and shipping. Ukraine is using cheap but powerful drones for these attacks. Drones like the FP-1 cost around £40,000 and can carry 60 to 120 kg of explosives. These drones can fly up to about 995 miles and are made with special technology to avoid radar.
Ukraine's objective is clear, to reduce Russia's earnings, so that it can spend less on war. However, experts believe that this will not weaken Russia completely, because it still has other ways to sell oil in Asia. Nevertheless, these attacks by Ukraine have become a big challenge for Russia.
