Ryan Gosling is currently basking in the success of his latest sci-fi space adventure drama, Project Hail Mary. Amid all the buzz, reports have emerged that confirm Ryan will be joining forces with Oscar-winning director duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, collectively known as Daniels, for another sci-fi film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the yet-untitled sci-fi action comedy is set for a theatrical release in late 2027. Reports say that Universal Pictures has scheduled Gosling’s project for release on November 19, 2027. Reports also say that Daniels’ upcoming film’s production is expected to begin later this summer in Los Angeles, California.

While the storyline as well as other details about the film remains under wraps, Kwan revealed some information during an interaction with Collider at the South By Southwest festival.

He said, “Fun sci-fi, action comedy with a big heart. Very existential. All those things that you would hope that one of our movies would be.”

He also said that the film would explore a “complex" world, adding that they took extra time as they wanted to “reconcile all those things and put them into one movie."

The upcoming film will mark Gosling’s second major release lined up for 2027. He will also be seen in Star Wars: Starfighter, a spinoff helmed by Shawn Levy of Deadpool & Wolverine fame.

This upcoming project also marks Daniels’ first feature since their critically acclaimed blockbuster Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022). Earning over USD 100 million globally, the film won secured seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh, and Best Original Screenplay.
