When our government was formed, there was SP government in UP. They did not allow work on it in the first 2-3 years, but as soon as the BJP-NDA government was formed here, the foundation stone of Jewar Airport was laid and construction was also done and now it has also started.
PM Modi further said that airport is not just a common facility in any country. They also give a boost to the country's progress and airport progress. Before 2014, there were only 74 airports in the country, today there are more than 160 airports. Now apart from the metros, air connectivity is also reaching small towns of the country. Earlier governments believed that air travel should be only for the rich, but the BJP government has made air travel easy for ordinary Indians too. PM Modi has yet to build 100 more airports across the country, work on which is going on. The country will develop more rapidly in the times to come.
