Imphal, Mar 28: On Saturday, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, the Chief Minister of Manipur, announced significant improvements in infrastructure, connectivity, and service delivery for 143 border villages in the state as part of the Centre's Vibrant Villages Programme-II.
During a state-level workshop dedicated to this initiative, Singh emphasized that the Vibrant Villages Programme-II is a central government effort aimed at enhancing the development of villages located along international borders.
The primary goal of this programme is to bolster infrastructure, create livelihood opportunities, and provide essential services in border regions.
Singh pointed out that Manipur shares its international boundary with Myanmar, underscoring the importance of prioritizing development in these border areas.
He expressed his appreciation to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the inclusion of five districts—Tengnoupal, Kamjong, Ukhrul, Chandel, and Churachandpur—under this initiative.
A total of 143 villages have been earmarked for this programme, which will see enhancements in infrastructure, connectivity, and service delivery.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the necessity for timely and coordinated execution of the programme, stressing the involvement of the Planning Department, district administrations, and security forces to ensure that the benefits reach all segments of society.
He expressed optimism that the workshop would foster better coordination and effective delivery of services on the ground.
The workshop aimed to address the development needs of border villages and enhance collaboration among various departments and agencies.
