Only then the full fruit of the fast is achieved and sins are destroyed, so let's read the story of the fast.
According to the fast story of Kamada Ekadashi, in ancient times there was a city named Bhogipur, which was ruled by a king named Pundarik. A husband and wife also lived in Bhogipur, whose names were Lalit and Lalita. There was deep love between husband and wife. Lalit used to play music in the court of King Pundarik. Once Lalit Raj along with Gandharvas was performing music in the court.
Meanwhile, while singing, his attention went to his wife, due to which his tune got spoiled. The king considered this an insult and became angry. After this he cursed Lalit to become a demon. Due to the influence of the king's curse, Lalit became a non-vegetarian. His face also became like that of a demon. Still, Lalita supported her husband and started asking for a solution to make her husband the way he was before.
Here the husband's face was becoming more grim day by day. One day when Lalit went towards the forest, his wife also followed him. Lalita saw a beautiful ashram in the forest. A sage lived there. Rishi asked Lalita who she was. On this, Lalita told her name and also told the story of the curse received by her husband. Then the sage told Lalita about the fast of Kamada Ekadashi.
After listening to the sage, Lalita observed the fast of Kamada Ekadashi as per the rituals and broke the fast on Dwadashi date. After this, she gave the virtuous fruit of the fast to her husband. Due to the auspicious effect of fasting, Lalit gradually recovered.
