TVK chief Vijay said that he will contest from two assembly constituencies in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections to be held on April 23. This will be the first election effort of Vijay and his party. Vijay's full name is C Joseph Vijay. He said that he will be the party's candidate from Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East of Chennai. Addressing a meeting of party officials here, he also revealed the names of candidates for other seats. In this, all the key members of his core team got a place in the list. Elections for 234 assembly seats in the state will be held on April 23.
Party chief Vijay met senior party leaders and members of his internal team – N Anand, Aadhav Arjun, R Arunraj, CTR Nirmal Kumar and K. A. Sengkottaiyan has been named as Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) candidates for other seats including T. Nagar, Villivakkam, Gobichettipalayam and Tirupparankundram.
Vijay once again reiterated that the election fight is between 'TVK's Jan Gathbandhan and Stalin sir's alliance' and termed the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led alliance in the state as mere manipulators. He said that I have chosen such candidates who will stand with the people. Vijay described his agenda as a 'guarantee' for the youth. Apart from this, Vijay has also promised to make Tamil Nadu drug-free and guarantee mortgage-free loans up to Rs 20 lakh from class 12 to PhD.
Vijay said that he was not just a candidate (vetpalargal) but a 'protector of the people' (makkal kappalargal). Asked for wholehearted support for them. He especially urged 'Gen Z' (young generation) to vote for his party's election symbol 'whistle' in large numbers and also inspire people in their homes to support TVK candidates. He claimed that this is the electoral battle of a generation which is limited only between DMK and TVK and there is no one else in the race.
