An 8-year-old girl’s brutal murder case took a dramatic turn after the accused was killed in a police encounter, bringing a shocking chapter to a close.

The victim, the daughter of a shoe factory operator, went missing on March 24 from the Tajganj area. Police swiftly registered a case and launched an intensive search operation, deploying multiple teams to trace her.

A day later, on March 25, the girl’s body was found hidden inside a flour container in a rented room belonging to the accused, identified as Sunil. According to police, he allegedly murdered the child, washed away the bloodstains, and concealed the body in the flour drum in an attempt to evade detection.

The gruesome discovery triggered widespread outrage, prompting authorities to form 12 special teams to track down the accused. A reward of Rs.25,000 was also announced for any information leading to his arrest.

On the night of March 27, acting on a tip-off, police located Sunil in the Bamrauli Katara area and surrounded him. Officials said that as he realised he was cornered, he opened fire at the police team, injuring a sub-inspector during the exchange.

Police retaliated, shooting the accused in the encounter. He was rushed to a hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
