Weightlifting competition at Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 concludes in Raipur. Arunachal Pradesh became champion in men's category and Assam in women's category. Players of Chhattisgarh also performed brilliantly and won many medals and brought glory to the state.

Raipur. Weightlifting competitions under Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 concluded successfully in Raipur. With the end of the competition, the results of the overall team championship were also announced. The players displayed great strength, technique and confidence throughout the event.

Men's and Women's Champions (Team Championship Results)

In the men's category, Arunachal Pradesh became the overall champion and secured the first position. Mizoram was the first runner up and Assam was the second runner up. In the women's category, Assam performed brilliantly and won the championship, while Odisha was the first runner up and Chhattisgarh was the second runner up.

Event held in Raipur, distinguished guests were present (Raipur Sports Event)

This competition was organized at Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University located in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. State Forest and Climate Change Minister Mr. Kedar Kashyap and Raipur Mayor Mrs. Meenal Choubey were present in the closing ceremony. He honored the winners with medals and encouraged the players.

Men's Weightlifting Results

  • 110kg class: Sambo Lapung of Arunachal Pradesh won the gold medal by lifting 299 kg. David Laljavmdika (270 kg) of Mizoram won silver and Lucky Babu Markam (261 kg) of Chhattisgarh won bronze medal.
  • 110+ kg category: Mizoram's David Johmingmawia won the gold medal with 290 kg. Andhra Pradesh's Gugulothu Raja Shekhar (255 kg) won silver and Assam's Manash Pratim Sonwal (223 kg) won bronze.

Women's Weightlifting Results

  • 86 kg class: Sakshi Bandu Burkule of Maharashtra won the gold medal by lifting 150 kg. Chhattisgarh's Rishika Kashyap (121 kg) won silver and Assam's Bitupuna Deori won bronze medal.
  • 86+ kg category: Josangjuali of Mizoram won the gold medal with 140 kg. Pinky Boro of Assam won silver and Gunjan Uike of Madhya Pradesh won bronze medal.

Players from Chhattisgarh also performed strongly in this competition. Lucky Babu Markam's bronze medal was a proud moment for the home crowd. He said that such events provide a big platform to rural and tribal youth and inspire them to move forward.

Technical arrangements remained good throughout the event and the competition was conducted in a transparent manner. The enthusiasm of the audience continued to add energy to the players' performance.
