New Delhi: The weather in the country is undergoing a significant transformation once again. The rainfall that has persisted in several states since last week has led to a drop in temperatures, and with a new western disturbance on the horizon, unstable weather conditions are expected to continue. Over the next few days, many districts in North India, Central India, and the Northeast are under warnings for thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail. The meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for several states, including Delhi NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Punjab.
A new western disturbance has become active in Northern India, which could lead to thunderstorms, rain, and hail from March 29 to April 2. The Himalayan states are at an increased risk of lightning and strong winds. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi-NCR. Temperatures may remain below normal, and visibility could be reduced in several areas.
In the capital, Delhi, the sky is likely to be overcast throughout the day. The meteorological department has forecasted the possibility of thunderstorms and light rain, prompting a yellow alert. Weather conditions will also be unstable in Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad. The minimum temperature in Delhi is expected to hover around 17 degrees Celsius, while the maximum may not exceed 30 degrees Celsius. With increased wind speeds, there is a chance of improvement in the pollution index.
A significant change in weather is anticipated in Northeast India over the next 72 hours. States such as Nagaland, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh may experience heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and hail. Additionally, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha could see strong winds accompanied by light to moderate rain. Residents are advised to exercise caution due to the potential for heavy rainfall and lightning.
Several regions in Madhya Pradesh are likely to experience sudden weather changes. Thunderstorms may bring light to moderate rain, with the possibility of hail in some areas. In Maharashtra's Vidarbha and Marathwada regions, strong winds and rain are also forecasted. Farmers are advised to secure their crops, as there is a risk of damage from hail.
In the upper regions of Uttarakhand, light rain and hail are expected, with alerts issued for areas like Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Uttarkashi. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been declared for over ten districts in Himachal Pradesh, where winds could reach speeds of 50-60 km/h. The Kashmir Valley is also at risk of rain, snowfall, and avalanches in the coming days.
