A disturbing video has emerged from a high school baseball match in South Carolina, depicting a school resource officer using excessive force against a teenage player. This incident, which occurred at Pee Dee Academy in Marion County, has prompted an official investigation.
The footage captures the officer applying a chokehold on the student while brandishing what seems to be a Taser. Nearby parents can be heard expressing their outrage and concern as they witness the altercation.
As the officer maintains his grip, he strikes the student on the head with the Taser, prompting a visible reaction of pain from the young athlete. Parents in the crowd voiced their disbelief, with one individual exclaiming, “What the f**k’s wrong with you?” while another warned, “You just lost your job, homie.”
Amid the chaos, some parents attempted to de-escalate the situation, advising the student to kneel to ease tensions. The officer then shouted, “Where’s the other fella at?” creating an atmosphere of confusion and fear.
Reports suggest that the student may have been part of the visiting team competing against Pee Dee Academy. As the situation calmed, the student was seen rubbing his head, but it remains uncertain whether he sustained any serious injuries.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has assumed control of the investigation, as confirmed by local authorities. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has stated that the deputy involved has been removed from his regular duties while the investigation is ongoing.
Officials remarked, “We have turned the matter over to SLED for investigation. The deputy in question has been reassigned pending SLED’s investigation.” The video has since gone viral on social media, eliciting widespread outrage and calls for accountability.
Many users expressed their disapproval of the officer's actions, with some demanding his termination and others seeking clearer communication from school and law enforcement officials. Comments included sentiments like, “This is not how you treat a kid at a school game,” and “That officer crossed the line. This needs full accountability.” There were also calls for improved training for school officers and stricter regulations on their interactions with students.
