Who Cursed Karna: Karna is considered one of the most valiant and charitable warriors of Mahabharata. Even great warriors trembled before his bravery and fighting skills. But the question arises that despite being such a powerful warrior, why did Karna lose the war? The answer lies in those three curses, which changed Karna’s fate in the battle of Kurukshetra.
Karna had received education from Parashurama by becoming a Brahmin. But when Parashurama came to know the truth that Karna was a Kshatriya, he became extremely angry. He cursed Karna that “when you need your most important knowledge, you will forget it.” This curse fell heavily on Karna during the war, when he could not use divine weapons.
Once a Brahmin’s cow was accidentally killed by Karna’s arrow. Saddened by this, the Brahmin cursed Karna that “Just as my cow died helplessly, in the same way you will also die helplessly in the war.” This curse proved true at the time of Karna’s death.
Karna had once insulted Mother Earth, due to which Mother Earth cursed him that “When you will be in the most difficult situation in the war, the wheel of your chariot will sink into the ground.” This is what happened in the battle of Kurukshetra, Karna’s chariot got stuck and he became helpless.
When Karna’s chariot sank, he had forgotten even the knowledge of his weapons. At that very moment he became completely helpless. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Arjun attacked him and Karna died. In this way all three curses together became the reason for his defeat.
The story of Karna teaches us that not only strength and skill but also luck plays an important role in life. Despite being such a great warrior, curses changed his fate and he had to face defeat.
