In the inaugural match of IPL 2026, Rajasthan Royals registered a spectacular victory by defeating Chennai Super Kings in a one-sided fashion at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. In this match, the Royals achieved their biggest win in terms of balls, which gave a new height to the team’s confidence.

Rajasthan’s best bowling

Bowling first, Rajasthan bowlers kept Chennai’s batting under complete pressure. Joffra Archer, Nandre Berger and Ravindra Jadeja performed brilliantly and took two wickets each. Chennai had a very bad start and after the powerplay the team had lost four wickets for 41 runs. The top order was a complete flop and no batsman could survive. Only Jamie Overton showed struggle and scored 43 runs in 36 balls, which was the only positive aspect for the team. Apart from him, no batsman could even cross the 20-run mark, due to which the team failed to score a big score.

Rajasthan Royals, who set out to chase the small target of 128 runs given by Chennai, adopted an aggressive approach from the very beginning. Opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi batted in a stormy style and scored a half-century in just 15 balls. He made the match almost one-sided by scoring 52 runs in 17 balls. Along with him, Yashasvi Jaiswal also showed restrained play and took the team closer to the target.

Won with 41 balls remaining

Rajasthan achieved the target in just 12.1 overs and won with eight wickets remaining. During this period, the team had 47 balls left, which became their biggest win so far in terms of balls. Earlier in 2014, the team had won against Royal Challengers Bangalore with 41 balls remaining.

This half-century of Vaibhav Suryavanshi has become the second fastest half-century for Rajasthan Royals. The role of captain Riyan Parag and Jaiswal was also important in this victory, who provided strength to the team. Overall, Rajasthan Royals made a great start to IPL 2026 by performing brilliantly in both the bowling and batting departments.
