Emmerdale is poised to air distressing scenes as Cain Dingle becomes embroiled in a severe car crash.
In recent instalments of the ITV drama, life has dealt Cain (Jeff Hordley) a tough hand after his wife Moira (Natalie J Robb) was incarcerated for crimes she didn't perpetrate.
Cain is also grappling with a concerning cancer diagnosis before being ousted from Butlers when Moira sold her share of the farm to Kim Tate (Claire Tate),igniting a feud between the Dingles and the Tates.
Next week brings a glimmer of hope for Cain when he learns that Moira's murder charge is likely to be dismissed, but she still faces criminal charges for complicity in modern slavery and needs an MRI scan.
Liam Cavangh (Jonny McPherson) devises a scheme that enables Moira and Cain to covertly rendezvous at the hospital. Cain finally shares his fear about his impending operation for prostate cancer, which Moira assures him they will confront together, reports the Daily Star.
The conversation leaves a troubled Cain feeling significantly more upbeat, and later, he gives his son, Kyle (Huey Quinn), the keys to his newly operational car before heading to the hospital.
However, while conversing with Moira on the phone, assuring her he believes everything will turn out fine, Cain is struck by a car.
Kyle is in a panic as he discovers his father, Cain, unconscious, while Moira, still on the phone call, hears the unfolding drama and tries to decipher what's happening.
Meanwhile, Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) trails Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) to Home Farm after discovering her lying about a house visit, and she promptly assists Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough), who had been attacked by a gang following the termination of a contract.
The unanticipated closeness between Graham and Rhona causes them to nearly kiss, and a heartbroken Marlon observes it in secret.
Unable to contain it any further, Marlon questions Rhona about whether she still has feelings for Graham. The vet attempts to clarify her emotions to her husband, but will she shatter his heart?
Subsequently, Rhona meets Graham with a significant decision, and the following day Graham leaves Marlon and Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) stunned after misinterpreting a conversation with Marlon. Departing, Graham climbs into his vehicle and speeds off.
But who is behind the wheel of the car that hits Cain? And will the patriarch survive the ordeal?
