RR vs CSK Records: Vaibhav Suryavanshi equals Sachin-Dravid, CSK's story has not changed even after 16 years

If the last season was just a trailer, then this season the film has started. The one player who was most awaited and anxious to see in IPL 2026 since the end of the last season, was finally seen. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who became a hit by debuting in IPL at the age of just 14, scored a half-century in 15 balls in the new season as soon as he turned 15. In the match against Chennai Super Kings, the young opener of Rajasthan Royals showed the same explosive batting which everyone has got used to in the last one year.

In this match played in Guwahati, Chennai batsmen Rajasthan Royals They succumbed to the fast bowlers and the entire team collapsed for only 127 runs. This had increased curiosity as well as uneasiness as to whether Vaibhav Suryavanshi would be able to show his magic for which he has become famous, in favorable conditions for the bowlers. This left-handed batsman neither disappointed nor changed his style.

Fastest half century, equal to Sachin

Last year, Vaibhav surprised everyone by hitting a six on the very first ball of his debut match. This time also he made a similar attempt but he was saved from getting out on the very first ball because Karthik Sharma had dropped his catch and the ball was hit for a four. But after this, Vaibhav scored boundaries in every direction except fine leg and completed his half-century in just 15 balls. This is also the fastest half-century of this batsman in IPL. Also, this is the fastest half-century by any batsman in 3 matches of this season.

Vaibhav scored 52 runs in 17 balls in his innings and also hit 5 sixes during this. On the basis of these 5 sixes, he equaled the great batsman Sachin Tendulkar, while leaving behind his former coach Rahul Dravid and current coach Kumar Sangakkara. Vaibhav now has 29 sixes in his name in just 8 matches of IPL. Sachin had also hit the same number of sixes in IPL but had played 78 matches for this. Whereas Dravid had hit only 28 sixes in 89 matches. Sangakkara also lagged behind Vaibhav with only 27 sixes.

CSK failed even after 16 years

In terms of records, Chennai Super Kings also did not lag behind, only its record became worse than before. Actually, CSK's legendary former captain MS Dhoni was not in this match. This was only the sixth match in the history of Chennai, when Dhoni was not a part of CSK's playing-11. For the first time this happened in 2010 and Chennai won that match. But since then, CSK had played 4 more matches without Dhoni and lost all four. Now with this match, for the fifth consecutive time in 16 years, Chennai has had to face defeat without Dhoni.
