Tehran/New York: The smell of gunpowder is becoming more frightening in West Asia. A month has passed since the war that broke out between Iran, America and Israel, but instead of peace, sounds of ‘nuclear destruction’ are now being heard. US President Donald Trump has already warned Iran that if the agreement is not reached, Kharg Island and oil wells will be destroyed. But meanwhile, a news to the United Nations (UN) has come which has shocked the entire world.

Sensational resignation of top UN official

Mohammad Safa, the chief representative of ‘Patriotic Vision’ in the United Nations, has created a sensation by resigning from his post. Safa not only stepped down, but also made a claim on social media platform X which has created a stir in diplomatic circles. He has alleged that preparations are underway for possible use of nuclear weapons in Iran and he does not want to be a part or witness to this terrible plan.

Mohammad Safa was the Executive Director of ‘Patriotic Vision’ since 2013 and was serving as the Permanent Representative of this international organization to the United Nations since 2016. The reason behind suddenly putting such a long and successful career at stake has been to save humanity.

‘UN is working at the behest of powerful lobby’

In his resignation letter, Mohammad Safa has raised serious questions on the functioning of the United Nations. He wrote, “After much consideration, I have decided to recuse myself from all my responsibilities. It has become clear to me that some senior UN officials are serving a powerful lobby and not the organization.”

Safa directly claimed that he could not be part of a process where the use of nuclear weapons was being prepared. He has termed it a ‘crime against humanity’.

‘Tehran is not a desert, 10 million people live there’

In her next post after resignation, Safa shared a beautiful picture of Tehran and slammed those who are advocating war. He wrote emotionally, “Maybe people are not understanding the seriousness of the situation. Tehran is not an empty desert. It is a city of 10 million people. There are families, children, pets and ordinary working people pursuing their dreams.”

He further said that wanting war is a ‘sick mentality’. He asked whether the world could even imagine dropping a nuclear bomb on Washington, London or Paris? According to Safa, he sacrificed his diplomatic career so that he could try to prevent ‘nuclear winter’ (the devastation that would occur after a nuclear war). He has appealed to the general public that now only people can stop this destruction.
