Apple is preparing to further improve the display design in its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro. According to recent leaks, the company is working on making Dynamic Island smaller instead of hole punch. This change will give the phone a more clean and premium look. Reports say that Apple is currently facing challenges in under-display technology. For this reason the company is gradually making changes in the design. iPhone 18 Pro series can be launched in September this year.
According to the leak, Apple is going to make the existing pill-shaped Dynamic Island in the iPhone 18 Pro series smaller instead of removing it completely. The post by Weibo user Wang Tengxiao claims that the company will not move towards hole punch cutouts.
According to leaks, the size of the dynamic island may be reduced from around 20.76mm to around 13.49mm. This change will give more screen space to users and improve the visual experience. However, no major changes may be seen in the standard iPhone 18 models. That means this new design may be limited to Pro variants only.
According to reports, Apple will retain the Face ID system, but some of its components may be shifted below the screen. In particular, the issue of under-displaying the flood illuminator has come to light. This will allow the size of the dynamic island to be reduced, without compromising security or performance. Apple's focus is on maintaining user experience and making the design look modern.
Although the complete under display camera system is not ready yet, that is why the company is currently working on incremental upgrades.
Tipster Ice Universe claims that the small cutout can be found in the entire lineup of iPhone 18, while some reports are saying that it is limited to Pro models only. One thing common in both the leaks is that Apple is currently gradually improving its existing design instead of completely changing it. Apart from this, iPhone 18 Pro is expected to get 2nm A20 Pro chip, battery larger than 5000mAh and better camera upgrade. This series can be launched in September, while iPhone Fold can come in the market later.
