Amidst the increasing tension with Iran, America’s President Trump has once again adopted a sharp stance and given a controversial statement on the global stage. On Tuesday he gave a strong message to those countries who are facing fuel crisis due to the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz. He said that such countries should show courage and take steps towards meeting their own energy needs.

Traffic affected in the Strait of Hormuz

It is noteworthy that the Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important sea routes in the world, through which about 20 percent of the global oil and gas supply passes. Following the military action by the US and Israel in late February, Iran’s retaliatory activities affected traffic in the region. According to reports, the pressure on global energy supplies has increased due to the targeting of ships carrying oil and gas.

Posting on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’, Trump suggested that countries like Britain should either buy oil from the US or take steps themselves to ensure access to this waterway. He indicated that in the coming times, America would expect other countries to become self-reliant instead of helping them.

In his statement, Trump also said that America has enough energy resources, but other countries will also have to learn to stand up for their own security and resources. He even said that now America will not come to your help every time.

warning to iran

Even before this, Trump has shown a tough attitude towards Iran. He warned that if no agreement is reached with Tehran, the US could launch a major military attack on Iran’s energy infrastructure such as power plants, oil wells and Kharg Island. Kharg Island, from where most of Iran’s oil exports come, has long been in the US strategic focus.

However, Iran has refused direct dialogue with America. He says he is receiving “unreasonable demands” only through indirect means. Iran also made it clear that it welcomes calls for peace, but holds America responsible for the beginning of the conflict. This entire incident has further increased tensions and fears of energy crisis at the global level.
