NASA's Artemis-2 mission is going to be launched on Wednesday. With its help, America is trying to reach those places on the Moon which are rich in natural elements. The most important among these is water. America can carry out its missions from Moon to Mars through water. This will be a historic 10-day manned mission, in which four astronauts will be taken around the Moon through the Orion spacecraft.
His journey around the Moon will pave the way for landing on the Moon and building a permanent base. The Artemis-II mission will perform important tests for the future Artemis-III landing mission. The purpose of this mission is to test the life support system of the Orion spacecraft, so that the safety of the astronauts can be ensured. It is estimated that 93 billion dollars will be spent on this mission so far.
Thousands of scientists are also involved in this mission, who are working hard day and night. But the question is that when man has already landed on the moon six times, then why is NASA preparing to repeat the same by spending so much.
According to reports, the lunar land may appear dry, dusty and barren, but in reality it is not so at all. The same elements are present there as are on our Earth. Experts believe that 'rare earth elements' means rare elements, which are rarely found on earth. It is possible that in some parts of the Moon they are present in such large quantities that we can extract them from there.
There are metals like iron and titanium on the moon, and also helium. According to scientists, water may be abundant on the moon. There are also some pits where there is always a shadow. In such a situation, there is a possibility of snow accumulation there. To live on the Moon, access to water is most important. This will not only provide drinking water but astronauts can get air to breathe and hydrogen can be used to provide fuel for spacecraft.
Well, it is also true that the war for supremacy in space is going on between America, China and Russia. America had tried to leave the Soviet Union behind by launching the Apollo missions in the 1960s and 1970s, but this time its competition is with China. China has successfully landed robots and rovers on the moon several times. China claims that it will send humans to the moon by 2030.
In such a situation, both America and China want to reach those areas where most resources are available. You can also call this a war to capture the moon. However, according to the United Nations' Outer Space Treaty of 1967, no country can claim ownership of the Moon.
