CEO: William Walsh will take command of IndiGo, airlines approved the appointment in the meeting

Delhi. The country’s leading airline company IndiGo has appointed former British Airways chief William Walsh as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The airline said on Tuesday that Walsh’s appointment was approved at a meeting of the company’s board of directors held today.

Valls will assume charge by August 03. He currently holds the post of Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) where his tenure expires on 31 July 2026. He has previously held the positions of CEO of British Airways and International Airlines Group.

Earlier, on March 09, the then CEO of IndiGo, Peter Albers, cited personal reasons. Had resigned from his post with immediate effect. His resignation came three months after a major disruption in airline operations in December last year saw thousands of flights canceled within a week and millions of passengers affected.
