Bank Holidays April 2026: It is essential to keep the holiday schedule in mind before conducting any banking-related business in April, as banks are set to remain closed for a total of 14 days this month. The new financial year begins on the very first day of the month—April 1st. While banks remain open on this day, routine customer transactions are typically not processed, as banks utilize this time to complete their internal financial closing procedures.

Regarding the holidays, banks across various states will remain closed for approximately 8 days throughout the month due to festivals and special occasions. Additionally, banking services nationwide will be affected by the four Sundays falling within the month. Furthermore, banks also observe holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays.

Consequently, banking operations will be impacted for a total of 14 days in April. Therefore, it is highly advisable to consult the holiday list before visiting a bank branch to ensure you do not face any inconvenience.

Banks to Remain Closed for Several Days Right at the Start of the Month

The impact on banking services will be felt right from the early days of April. On April 1st, due to the commencement of the new financial year, routine customer transactions will not be processed in banks across the entire country. The following day, April 2nd, banks in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) will remain closed on account of Maundy Thursday.

On April 3rd, on the occasion of Good Friday, banking services will remain suspended in several cities, including Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Bengaluru, Dehradun, Guwahati, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Delhi, Patna, Raipur, and Shimla. Meanwhile, banks nationwide will remain closed on April 5th as it falls on a Sunday, and a holiday will be observed across all banks on April 11th due to it being the second Saturday of the month. April 12th will be a weekly holiday (Sunday).

A Plethora of Holidays Continues in the Second Half of April

Banks are set to remain closed for several days during the second half of the month as well. On April 14, banks will remain closed in several cities—including Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, and Ranchi—on account of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, Baisakhi, and other festivals. On April 15, a holiday will be observed in Agartala, Guwahati, Itanagar, Kochi, Kolkata, Shimla, and Thiruvananthapuram due to the Bengali New Year, Bohag Bihu, Vishu, and Himachal Day.

Meanwhile, on April 16, banks in Guwahati will remain closed on account of Bohag Bihu. Subsequently, banks in Bengaluru will remain closed on April 19 (Sunday) and April 20 (due to Basava Jayanti and Akshaya Tritiya). On April 21, a holiday will be observed in Agartala on account of Garia Puja. Furthermore, banks across the entire country are scheduled to remain closed on April 25 (being the fourth Saturday) and April 26 (being a Sunday).
