Warangal: House site registration documents were distributed to farmers displaced by the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) in Warangal on Wednesday, April 1, with the state government also announcing that plot sizes allotted to oustees had been enhanced from 50 to 75 square yards following a ministerial intervention.

Parkal MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy, District Collector Satya Sharada and Kakatiya Urban Development Authority chairman Enagala Venkatram Reddy handed over the documents to displaced farmers of Sangem village at a function held in Geesukonda mandal.

The plots have been allotted at the Rajiv Gandhi Township as part of the rehabilitation package for those affected by the project.

Prakash Reddy said the initial allotment of 50 square yards per beneficiary was later revised to 75 square yards after Minister Sridhar Babu represented to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy that displaced families needed adequate space to build homes. A total of 186 beneficiaries are covered under the allotment.

The MLA said the textile park project had gathered momentum under the current administration, crediting coordination with Union ministers for progress that was stalled during the previous government’s tenure. He added that eligible members of displaced families would be given employment opportunities within the textile park.

Infrastructure works worth Rs 80 crore are under way at the Rajiv Gandhi Township, he said, with facilities including a primary school, primary health centre, gram panchayat office, veterinary hospital, cement concrete roads, culverts and high-tension power lines planned for the site. Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) clusters are also being developed in the area. The MLA warned of strict action against illegal layouts and encroachments, saying enforcement would be carried out to protect planned development in the township.
