New Delhi. After ruling Hindi cinema, actors go to Hollywood to make a global mark but an Indian-British origin actor decided to leave Hollywood and make his mark in India. We are talking about Roshan Seth, who gained popularity by playing the role of Jawahar Lal Nehru.

The actor will celebrate his 84th birthday on April 2. Born in Patna, Bihar, Roshan Seth did not know that when he grew up, he was going to make a mark in Hollywood and Bollywood. The actor’s mother was Anglo-Muslim while his father was Hindu. Born before the partition of the country, Roshan Seth’s father was a professor of biochemistry at Patna Medical College and wanted to send Roshan abroad for higher education. The actor first did his early education from Doon School and then went to St. Stephen’s College for further studies. In the year 1965, Roshan took training at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and worked to improve his art.

While living abroad, he did many theaters and it was from here that his acting foundation got strengthened. However, the actor was tired of playing the same character and this was the reason that after the year 1970, he decided to leave the UK and come to India. He came to India to become a journalist and worked in this field for some years.

In the year 1980, the actor made a comeback while living in India with the film ‘Gandhi’ and played the role of Jawahar Lal Nehru in this film. His acting was so natural that for this he was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor in BAFTA Award but he missed the award but the film was awarded an Oscar. After ‘Gandhi’, the actor got recognition in Hindi cinema and he worked in many films back-to-back.

In the year 1998, the actor was also seen in the role of Jawahar Lal Nehru in ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’. He also worked in foreign films like ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,’ ‘My Beautiful Launderette and Street Fighter’, after which he worked in Salman Khan’s films like ‘Ek Tha Tiger,’ ‘Guru,’ ‘Monsoon Wedding,’ ‘Sach: A Long Journey’, and ‘Bombay Boys.’ In the year 2021, the actor worked in a Netflix series named Behind Her Eyes, in which he was seen in the role of a psychological doctor. After this series the actor is missing from the screen.
