Who Wants To Be A Millionaire fans are set for a remarkable experience this month as the ITV programme makes its comeback with the most thrilling series to date.
The forthcoming season will witness not one but two participants reaching the £1 million question, positioning them merely one correct response away from claiming the programme's ultimate reward and a life-altering amount of money. With confirmation that at least one participant secures the substantial jackpot, might there be two champions?
Throughout the UK programme's history, merely six participants have ever claimed the top reward and only one champion since Jeremy Clarkson assumed presenting duties in 2018. So for two participants to progress all the way to the finale, it represents an exceptionally uncommon accomplishment.
Previous £1 million champions are Judith Keppel (2000), David Edwards (2001), Robert Brydges (2001), Pat Gibson (2004) and Ingram Wilcox (2006).
Donald Fear became the sixth champion in the programme's UK history on 11 September 2020, and the first participant to claim the top reward in 14 years.
Nevertheless, there's also astonishing moments in the new series as one participant dramatically forfeits £186,000 in a single instant... amongst the largest losses in the programme's history.
Presented by Jeremy, 65, the nail-biting new series will witness participants once more attempting to ascend the famous Million Pound Money Ladder, utilising their lifelines - Ask the Audience, 50:50, Ask the Host and Phone a Friend - in a quest to secure life-changing winnings.
Producers are keeping quiet about when the victories - and the significant defeat - will occur throughout the series.
Meanwhile, host Jeremy said: "I think this may be my favourite series so far. Seeing two people get to the £1 million question was extraordinary.
"When they're sitting there on that final question the tension in the studio is incredible, you can really feel it. Can't wait for people to watch it."
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? returns to ITV and ITV X later this month.
