Kia has revealed the new Seltos hybrid for the US market and the new generation Seltos will have a hybrid powertrain for the first time.
The new Seltos in the US has a hybrid which means it has a 1.6 litre petrol engine and an electric motor while also getting an AWD option for the hybrid.
The gearbox of choice is also a dual clutch automatic 6 speed. While being FWD, the hybrid will come with an electric all wheel drive setup.
The range or the efficiency has not been disclosed by Kia in the US market. However, the Seltos hybrid for India could be different when compared to the US spec Seltos hybrid which comes with a 1.6l turbo petrol engine.
The India spec version will come with a 1.5l NA petrol while Kia will try to localise the hybrid components for India which will mean lower costs.
The gearbox would also be different from India rather than the US market. While the new Seltos hybrid will arrive later in the US, the Seltos hybrid in India will come next year as localisation is expected to take time.
However, localisation will mean more affordable pricing for the Hybrid and that will be key for the cars success in India.
The new Seltos has gone onto a strong start already with robust sales and the hybrid version will add to that. Hence, while the US market will get a hybrid Seltos, it will be different from our India spec version.
