Summer Skin Care Routine: Heat With growth, the activity of oil glands of the skin also increases. In this season, due to moisture, sweat and excess sebum (oil) production, problems like clogged pores, blackheads, comedones and acne (pimples) on the skin become common.
But during this time, people make a big mistake – they continue the heavy moisturizing routine of winter even in summer. Although there is a lot of difference between the two, can the routine you follow in winter also harm you in summer?
Dermatologist Dr. Jyotirmay Bharti (pioneer in aesthetic and regenerative dermatology) says that contrary to popular belief, not every skin type needs moisturizer in hot and humid weather. Especially thick and sticky products can prove harmful for the skin in summer. These accumulate on the surface of the skin and trap sweat, oil and dirt, causing clogged pores.
According to Dr. Jyotimay, this problem is especially seen in people with oily skin and acne-prone people. Even people who find their skin dry need to be careful, because sometimes this “dryness” is not real.
In summer, many people feel their skin tight or dry and they immediately apply moisturizer. But this feeling often occurs due to clogged hair follicles (hair roots). There is an oil gland associated with every hair follicle, which naturally nourishes the skin.
When these follicles become clogged, oil cannot reach the skin surface, causing false dryness. In such a situation, applying moisturizer further clogs the pores and increases the problem.
It is more important to clean the pores rather than applying a layer of cream on the skin. Along with this, some creams can also prove to be very beneficial in this. Let us know.
This way the skin’s natural oils are released properly and the skin remains balanced, without the need for heavy moisturizers.
The same principle applies to the scalp as well. Applying heavy oils, serums or sticky products in summer can clog the hair follicles, causing problems like dandruff, folliculitis and hair fall. Therefore, it is important to keep the scalp clean and avoid heavy products in this season.
Summer skincare routine should be light and simple. Instead of excessive layering, it is more effective to keep the pores clean, pay attention to proper treatment and sun protection.
