Government strict on rumors regarding LPG, instructions to states - immediately control the situation

The Central Government has shown strictness on the rumors spreading regarding LPG. Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Secretary of the Petroleum Ministry, has written a letter to the Chief Secretaries of all the states and union territories asking them to immediately control the situation. The government says that due to the spread of wrong information in many places, panic is increasing among the people and gas cylinders are being bought in panic. According to the ministry, currently only 17 states and union territories are holding press briefings regularly or intermittently, which is not enough.

The Center has asked the states to hold press briefings at senior level every day and to disseminate correct information to the people on time through social media and media. This will give confidence to the people that the supply of LPG is sufficient and it is being delivered to the people smoothly. Along with this, the government has also given instructions to continue strict action against hoarding and black marketing. The Center has asked the states to personally intervene in this matter, so that the rumors can be controlled.

'Crisis was turned into opportunity'

India is using the cooking gas crisis caused by the Iran war to address shortcomings in its local distribution system and strengthen its infrastructure. This is so that the piped gas can be moved faster. Because it wants to reduce the expenditure on import and subsidy of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

Last month, India issued an order setting deadlines for new pipeline approvals. Under this, if the officials do not respond within the stipulated time, the approval will be considered to have been granted. Along with this, a condition has also been laid for land owners and local authorities to give way for the pipeline. Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said on social media that rapid expansion of CGD (City Gas Distribution) network is being seen across the country. A crisis has now turned into an opportunity.
