Rinku Singh has entered his name in the history books on Thursday (April 2) by breaking the record of taking the most catches for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. Rinku, the vice-captain of KKR in the ongoing 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League, has completed two matches so far, including the IPL 2026 match between KKR and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. He first took a catch of Ishan Kishan off Blessing Muzarabani’s bowling and then caught Aniket Verma near the boundary line off Anukul Roy’s bowling. The catch of Aniket helped Rinku extend his tally of catches to 41 in 61 IPL matches for the Kolkata-based franchise.

The previous record of taking the most catches for KKR in the IPL was held by Andre Russell. Russell played 133 IPL matches for KKR from 2013 to 2025 and completed 40 catches. Sunil Narine is third on the list of players with the most catches for KKR in IPL. In 191 matches for KKR in the cash-rich league, Narine has completed 36 catches so far.

Virat Kohli, who has represented the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL since the first season (2008), holds the record for taking the most catches in the IPL. Kohli has completed 118 catches in 268 IPL matches played so far. In the list of players with the most catches in the IPL, Kohli is followed by Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina. Both Raina and Jadeja have 109 catches each to their name.

Kohli is also at the top of the list of players with the most catches for one team in the IPL, followed by Kieron Pollard. Pollard played 189 IPL matches for the Mumbai Indians from 2010 to 2022 and took 103 catches.

So far, only five players have managed to take more than 100 catches as an outfielder in the world’s richest franchise cricket league.
